Typical tasks in agricultural monitoring:
- land health assessment;
- analysis of vegetation (amount of nitrogen, protein, chlorophyll);
- calculation of the arable lands' square;
- control of reclamation, irrigation, harvesting, haying;
- floods and forest fires monitoring;
- crop yield estimation;
- soil moisture check.
During the winter season aerial or space monitoring allow farmers to control the amount of snow cover and to watch its dynamics. Satellite systems transmit the data almost in real-time mode.
Space monitoring is applicable when it is necessary to:
- determine the type of crops: vegetables, fruits, oil crops, etc.;
- determine the ripeness of crops;
- predict estimated crop yield;
- control the crop planting and harvesting;
- control reclamation works;
- detect adverse natural phenomena: erosion, swapming, soil salinity, waterlogging;
- examine the relief before developing new agricultural areas.
